The major objective of Investigations and Recovery (I&R) Services is to maintain program integrity through the investigation of all allegations of welfare fraud and the recovery of all incorrectly paid benefits.

Early detection and enforcement by investigators sets the pace for honest reporting by all applicants and recipients of public benefits in Nevada.

Public benefits include the following programs:


Fraud and abuse investigations are broken down into three primary types:

  • Pre-eligibility (after submitting an application but before case approval)
  • Ongoing eligibility (while an individual is still eligible for benefits)
  • Post eligibility (individual previously received benefits but is no longer eligible)
