Required Trainings
The Nevada Registry requires specific training to be completed within the first 90 days of employment. Those initial trainings include CPR, First Aid, Signs and Symptoms of Illness, Child Abuse, Child Development/Guidance and/or Discipline, Lifelong Wellness, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome if working with children under age one and all CCDBG Health and Safety courses. These hours are included within the required annual hours of training. The remaining training hours can be taken in any Nevada Registry approved topic of choice.
If you work at a licensed childcare center, SOI training must be completed every three years. While First Aid is generally a one-time requirement, licensing surveyors have the discretion to require it to be retaken and to count the training hours again.
Optional Trainings & Professional Development
There are a variety of trainings to help child care providers strengthen essential skills such as emotional literacy, classroom management, building positive relationships, program management, and more. These trainings foster growth, enhance daily interactions, and support providers in creating a nurturing and effective learning environment for children and families.
